THE WORLDS |
Blood Groove When smooth continental vampire Rudolfo Zginski is staked in 1915, it should be the end of him. But he resurrects in Memphis sixty years later to find a world he must quickly master, and more peril than he ever expected. In addition to the automobiles, polyester fashions and racial tensions of 1975, he encounters four new vampires who know their nature only from the movies, and must evade a trap set for him half a century earlier that might ensnare them all.... That Blood Groove Mood An iPod list for the funky.NOTE: Seven of these songs are from the 1979 album Streets of Fire by the late Duncan Browne. I found this music in a cassette bargain bin in Jackson, TN back in the Eighties. It instantly became one of my favorite albums, the more so because it was so unknown here; to acquire this album on CD, I had to rely on a friend in Japan. Even now, there's no single CD release that fully includes all the tracks from the original album. A tremendous songwriter and guitarist, Browne missed stardom but left behind sublime tunes, both lyrical and instrumental, that for me evoke a kind of timeless urban nightscape perfect for vampires and other lurkers in the dark. There's nothing Goth about his sound, though: it's all clean, crisp, perfect construction married with an unmistakably English pop understatement. See the video for the song "Fauvette" for a taste. Here is a a rare clip of the man himself performing the song "The Wild Places," from the album of the same name. The List: Fauvette by Duncan Browne See the video.
